Show Bittle Lane closed despite complaints The proposed closure of Bittle Lane at the intersection of Highway 163 and 4th East caused some heated discussion at the Grand County Commission meeting last Monday. Fifteen citizens who live in the area were on hand to protest the closure, stating that it would be inconvenient to use the bowling alley turnoff . Two members of the Grand County ambulance crew also voiced concern over the possibility that response time would be increased if the intersection was closed. Sterling Davis and Archie Hamilton, Hamil-ton, of the Utah Department oi Transportation, were on hand to answer questions. Davis stated that both intersections are potential problem areas, but that the 4th East exit is the more dangerous of the two. There was a four car accident there June 3. Commissioner Dan Holyoak said, "We have no way of knowing whether closing Bittle Lane is the correct action, but we won't know until we try." Davis elaborated saying that the Department of Transportation has recommended that Bittle Lane be closed when 4th East was first improved.
