Show C of C Members Support Action To Protest Sonic Booms JMoab (.'luunber ot Com. nitMTO members voiced support sup-port of a plan to protest sonic booms over this area after discussion on the proposal at the Tuesday luncheon meeting held at the SunDowner. It was reported by Jac-que Jac-que Celo that if a record of the times such "booms" were heard was kept and sent to Hill Air Force Base, the offending air. craft could be identfied and further protests could be possible. Several members mem-bers voiced their concern over possible destruction to Indian ruins and natural nat-ural bridgs and arches in the area. Les Erbes reported re-ported that the National Tark Service had conducted conduct-ed several studies into this possibility and had reported that no damage was noticeable. After further discussion, discus-sion, approval to protest the "booms" was given. A letter was received from the producers of tha Pating Game which stated stat-ed that it might be possible pos-sible for the couple to visit tms area on the Memorial Me-morial Day weekend. They requested color slides of the urea which will be sent by Howard Jorgnson. Pi. lot Dick Smith offered to fly the couple over the area as part of their visit. Between 15 and 20 members mem-bers of the Sidt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Salt Shakers will be in Moab on March 18, where they will host a social hour at he Uamada Inn at G:30 p.m. followed by a no host dinner at 7:30. The group is visiting tha area on a good will tour. In other business it was decided to build a Chamber of Commerce float for the rodeo parade on June 12 and a rcpoit from Secretary Betty Jacobs Ja-cobs indicated that 124 reservations for the Jeep Safari had been received. Chamber members decided de-cided to give more publicity public-ity to the golf course in future advertisements to encourage more use of that fcaility by visitors, especially during winter months. |
