Show Progress Reported Here On Golf Course Work Moab golfers this week issued a progress report on work being done at the. local course this spring as part of an improvement program now in progress. Tee boxes have been elevated at holes No. 1, 6 and 9 for women golfers. This work was done thru the efforts of Al Berna. Gravel for all pathway-3 and walks was donated by Union Oil Company. After a great deal of volunteer and paid labor, the Grow Building on South Main was dismantled dismantl-ed to street level and materials ma-terials from the building have been stored or transferred trans-ferred to the course for future use. Private donations hav. been amassed and 3,400 pounds of seed has been 'purchased for re-seeding at the course. Seventeen acres will be planted with 200 pounds per acre. In addition, 20 tons of fertilizer ferti-lizer has been obtained from Moab City for use at the course. According to officials at the course, the new manager, ma-nager, Joe Severns, has been busy giving the inside in-side of the club house a new look and has madf many improvements. Tentative plans have been made for a Moab "Opening Day" as a promotional pro-motional plan to kick off the golf season. The day's events would start off with a golf clinic conducted conduct-ed by golf pros, Glenn 'Vitor and Grant Leavitt. Also a demonstration session ses-sion would be given by many of the local top golfers. ... Following this a to'H-" anient would be held, r.l-though r.l-though the type of tournament tour-nament has not been determined. de-termined. Concluding the day would be a dinner provided pro-vided by the Women's Association. As-sociation. Free play would be provided to all participants partici-pants throughout the day. A tentative date for late in April has been set up, but no firm plans are yet made. |
