Jfcvh : State officers of the BPW organization in Moab for the Eastern Utah District Convention held last weekend were: left to right, Alcne Hansen, State Second Vice-President ; Mable O'Brien, State Moab BPW Club Hosts District Conference Here Over the Weekend The Eastern District spring conference or Business Bus-iness and Professional Women's Wo-men's Clubs convened Sunday, Sun-day, March 14, at the Greenwell Restaurant. Tlie Moab Club hosted the event ev-ent and held a special honor and install three new members of the local club. Alene Hansen, State Second Sec-ond Vice-president conducted con-ducted the installation ceremony. ce-remony. She called attention atten-tion to the BPW symbol and the meaning of the following were read: The Torch Nellie Beyeler State Foundation Chairman Chair-man ; Winged Wave of Wisdom Helen Dahlc, First Vice President, State; Sta-te; Scroll of Achievement Deloe Peterson, State Membership Chairman and Nike Josephine Jergen-sen, Jergen-sen, immediate Past State President. Mable O'Brien, State President of Utah Federated Federa-ted BPW Clubs extended a special message to the three new members, Geri Boyden, Norma Stocks, & Jody Hays. Moab Preside ent Marian Ottinger presented pre-sented corsages to the new members. State officers then led the group in the club pledge. After the adjournment for lunch, President Ottinger Ottin-ger and Sue Austin treated treat-ed the out of town guests to a ride down the river to the Potash plant, an impromptu im-promptu tour. After the meeting was reconvened by the district officers, District Director Rowena Boren conducted with Ann Price, secretary-treasurer; secretary-treasurer; and Jean Sargent, Sarg-ent, vice director assisting. assist-ing. Marian Ottinger led the collect and everyone was introduced after which reports were given by the three club presidents. ' Violet Southard, chairman chair-man of the arrangements for the conference introduced intro-duced Joan Cox who gave several musical numbers following which, talks were given by the two candidates for young career car-eer girl. The judges retired retir-ed to read resumes and . selected Marion Bierdeker of Price as the district winner of th contest. She will compete in the Stale contest at the State convention. con-vention. Runnerup is Janie Walker of Moab. Judges for the contest were Viola President; Josephine Yergensen, immediate immed-iate past president ; Delone Peterson ; Helen Dahle, First Vice President, and Marian Behunin, Treasurer. 4s&X. Ori, Leora Nourse, and Vera Duffey of the Price-Helper Price-Helper area and Sue Arnold Arn-old of Moab. Thirtyone members and guests attended the meeting meet-ing and heard announce-mnts announce-mnts of upcoming conventions conven-tions and state officers vying for election spoke during the luncheon. Contending for the office offi-ce of State President weie Mable O'Brien and Helen Dahle with Alene Hansen running for State First Vice President and Marion Mari-on Behunin running for Treasurer.
