Show High Blood Pressure: A Need For Awareness Almost everyone of us knows someone who has blood pressure. Many of us have it ourselves. But few of us are aware of its significance. To doctors, hypertension, the medical term for high blood pressure, is a silent killer. Since it has no usual symptoms, most of its victims don't know they have it. If left untreated, hypertension can take years off a person's life and can cause heart attack and stroke. Research, along with intensive inten-sive community education and hypertension screening prog rams, are top priorities of the American Heart Association. All of this is necessary to assure the heart health quality qual-ity of this nation. These programs are just one facet of the many ways your Heart Fund dollars are put to work for you and your heart by the Heart Associa tion. The American Heart Association is now conducting its annual fund drive. Give generously when a Heart volunteer calls at your home.
