Show Council Pxeviewed Requests For Area Projects The 3-county Human Services Serv-ices Advisory Council met in Green River Tuesday to consider con-sider proposals submitted for some $125,000 to be available in local disgressionary Title XX funds in the coming year. Bob Greenberg was named by the county commission as Grand County's third member on the council. He is a staff member of Four Corners Mental Men-tal Health, and will represent service providers. Betty Dal-ton, Dal-ton, school board member, is the elected official, and Adri-en Adri-en Taylor is the consumer representing the county, as provided by the makeup prov isions of the council. Pearl Baker, of Green River, was named consumer-at-large on the council. Human services proposals studied Tuesday totaled some $170,000, with additional proposals pro-posals expected to be submitted submit-ted before final recommendations recommenda-tions are made by the council to the Association of Governments Govern-ments board regarding funding. fund-ing. The largest chunk of requests, re-quests, $91,430, is included in four separate proposals for hot meals for senior citizens, either home-delivered or in a congregate setting. A request for $11,000 was made for Grand County in this regard. Two separate requests from Carbon County for hot meals programs total $54,030. Emery Em-ery County has requested $26,400 for the hot meals program. The only other program currently asking funding directly dir-ectly and only for Grand County is a tentative request for $3,000 to pay an activity director for extended care patients at Allen Memorial Hospital. Several of the proposals considered would serve all 3 counties. These include requests re-quests for funds for legal services, alcohol recovery services, ser-vices, planned parenthood and headstart. The majority of the requests re-quests for Title XX disgressionary disgres-sionary district funds have come from Emery and Carbon Counties. Grand County's members on the council ex- pressed concern regarding the disproportionate allotment allot-ment of these funds, noting that few programs have been identified here which meet the criteria for Title XX. Persons or agencies who feel they can identify a need which could be met with Title XX funds are asked to contact a Grand County council member. mem-ber. Fund proposals will be prioritized pri-oritized at the March meeting of the council, with the district dis-trict plan going to public hearings in all 3 counties in April. |
