Show Moab Sewing Plant Purchased by Spanish Fork Firm A well known Utah clothing namufacturer has purchased the interests of principals of Moab Industries, and will take over operation of the Moab sewing plant as of the first of January, officers and directors of Moab Area Development Corp. were told Tuesday. Fritzi of Utah, headquartered in Spanish Fork, Utah, has purchased the interests of Doug and Jerry Squire, principal owners of Moab Industries. The new firm will be known as Moab Sportswear, Mr. Squire told the Moab businessmen Tuesday. Currently, the staff at Moab Industries is doing contract work for Fritzi. "We have more work now than we have had for a long time," Mr. Squire stated. Although officers of Fritzi have not as yet met with local officials to formalize transfer of Moab Industries assets, those meetings are expected in the near future. It is also expected that the firm will be looking at additional employment after they take control of the Moab sewing plant. Plans for a permanent facility to house the plant are also being looked at. currently, the factory is located in the American Legion Hall. The Legion has indicated it is not interested in selling the facility, but they have granted an additional year's lease on the property to the manufacturing firm. Mr. Squire, who will remain for the time being as manager of the Moab facility, stated that there will be no need now for additional room for a cutting facility. Fritzi will do all the cutting in their Spanish Fork plant and will send the cut pieces to Moab for final assembly work. Moab Industries has been financed with a Small Business Administration loan, with support from Moab Area Development Corp., a business development develop-ment corporation made up of a large number of Moab and area business people and individuals interested in developing additional employment opportunities oppor-tunities in the Moab area. President of the corporation is Ralph J. Miller, Jr. |
