Show Two Rodeo Parades Help Create interest in Show The two processions of the 1968 Rodeo Parade started in a direction opposite to that of last year's. Both parades last Friday and Saturday evenings assembled at the City Park and moved south along Main Street. The parades had good reo-resentation reo-resentation of local organizations, organiza-tions, civic clubs, and local city and county government departments as well as several sever-al sections from out of town and out of state. Leading the parades were the flag bearers and the 19o3 Rodeo Queen. Ann Carter and her two attendants, Vicki Gentry and Jo Lyn Shumway. The Rodeo Committee mounted mount-ed on horseback followed the queen. Other organizations in the parade included: The Mesa Me-sa County Sheriff's Posse from Grand Junction: the Frontier Belles Sidesaddlers, a group ot riding ladies who also had a part in each rodeo; Girl Scouts of Moab District No. 7, representing 10 troops; the Canyonlands Riders, a 4H horseriders club in Grand county; the Explorer Search and Rescue Team with eight vehicles; the Red Rock Riders,, Rid-ers,, the Moab Jaycees; Canyonlands Can-yonlands National Park Patrol Bear, Bureau of Land Mau-missioners; Mau-missioners; the Moab 'City Mayer and Councilmen; Lin Ottinger's Tours; Tag-A-Long Tours; Tex's pontoon equipment equip-ment and paddle wheeler, also used to provide free transportation transpor-tation to and from the rodeos; the Shriners of Moab; Daughters Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers; City of Moab float; the U. S. Forest For-est Service and Smoky the Bear; Bureau of Land Management Man-agement float; the Saturday night dance band float; th.? Little League players; Grand Valley Junior Riders; and many others, including the two rodeo clowns on burros. The Rodeo Committee this week thanked- the people of Grand county, the participating participat-ing organizations, the businesses, busi-nesses, and government officials of-ficials for the fine cooperation and support of this year's rodeo ro-deo and parades. |
