Show Community Comments ,1 Norman and Ronnie Taylor, owners of Moab Apparel, na-nounced na-nounced plans of revealing their long-time kept secret in next week's Times-Independent. The mystery concerns the peculiar arrangement of strange architecture that the Taylors have been in process pro-cess of building for some fims south of town on U. S. Highway 140.. In fact, it has been more than eight years since they began dreaming of this pro-jeet pro-jeet and is the prime reason for their move to Moab that many years ago. There, have been many guesses as to what the project pro-ject . is, such as: miniature golf course,' bull fight arena, dog ' racing or horse racing track, another store, a yoga center, a meeting place for psychedelic-minded hippies. Other local people have said that Uie Taylors are building a looney house for people going go-ing crazy trying to figure cut what it is. All that's been revealed is that Hie project is going to be for tourists. The suspense sus-pense will have to keep you itching until next week's t edition of The Times. In the meantime, how about some mere guesses. Chances are, you'll be wrong, just lik the above guesses were. ST- One of the most disappointing disappoint-ing misconceptions being promoted pro-moted by the opponents of the movement to place the con-I con-I troversial liquor by the drink question on the general ballot this fall, is the argument that private citizens have no business busi-ness involving themselves in the lawmaking process by petitioning pe-titioning . their government. This fallacious argument insists in-sists that only legislators hav any-business meddling v.itK lawmaking. . We disagree. The privilege of petitioning our government govern-ment for specific action when that , action carmot be obtained through due process, pro-cess, is as old as the Boston Tea Party. There are certain issues that must eventually be de- cided in the privacy of a voting vot-ing booth, where citizens can act their convictions without threat of social or economic pressure. The issue at hand is one of them. Asking the Legislature to act openly and objectively on this issue is asking these overburdened office holders too much. This y is an issue for the people. And now, in answer to the many people who have asked us since last week where they might find a petition to sign, the Moab Jaycees committee handling petitions here have announced, that booths will be set up in front of Miller's Super Su-per Market and Yama's IGA Market on Saturday of this B week, from' 10 to 12 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. |
