Last Thursday evening thieves entered the building by breaking window from classroom, pried open the school office door, and broke into Principal's office of-fice to get keys. The vault key wasn't in the desk, so the mauraders chisled open the vault door, escaping escap-ing with some 5300 in cash. Checks were left behind. be-hind. Principal Blewitt said the burglary was effected effect-ed by someone well acquainted with school routine. Police are checking clues. Cash Taken from Schools !n Thursday Robberies Two Moab schools were burglarized Thursday evening ev-ening and over $350 in cash taken from the two institutions. An additional number of checks were missing from one school, as well as some school lunch tickets. Targets of the night robbers rob-bers were tho Grand county coun-ty high school, and the Helen M. Knight elementary elemen-tary school. The high school was entered en-tered by breaking a glass from a classroom window. The school office door was pried open, and the Principal's Prin-cipal's office brokwi into. Keys were missing from the Principal's desk drawer. draw-er. The vault door was chisled open, where tiie money was taken. Checks were left behind. Principal Jeston Blewitt said the vault keys were not kept in his desk with other building keys. Failure Fail-ure to find a key to the vault apparently prompted the thieves .to chisle the door, he said. The principal said it appeared ap-peared the burglary was peeomplished by someone acquainted with the building" buil-ding" and office routine. Police are checking clues. The same night the Helen Hel-en M. Knight school was burglarized, and about $50 in cash taken. In addition lehecks and school lunch tickets were missing. Kntry to the building was obtained by breaking the front door glass and reaching through to open the door. The office door was opened the same way. and the outer office door psicd open. Money was taken from the desk. Tho door to the supervisor's office was also entered by prying the lock out of the door, as had been done at the high school. |
