Show SHEEP AND CATTLE TO BE ASSESSED AT LOWER RATE suggested valuations to be placed on livestock for the coming year were tor warded to all county assessors of utah by the state tax commission tuesday the commission finds that these suggestions gest ions represent as nearly as we are able to determine me lair valuation on these classes ol 01 property for which they should be assessed for the ensuing year the valuation suggested are for stock sheep the old difference between range sheep and sheep otherwise assessed having been dropped from the assessment rolls for range goat for dairy cows 30 for range cattle weaker calves 8 to 9 cows 15 to 16 yearnings yearlings year lings 14 to 15 and 2 year old steers 20 valuations for the range cattle bad been announced some time ago and represent a reduction of 25 or 30 per cent from the assessed values of last year dairy cows were assessor for 1931 at around 38 with reference to other cattle than those falling into these classes the commission says all bulls feeder cattle and all blooded cattle whether of beet or dairy types are to be assessed in proportion to their value range sheep last year were assessed at an average around 3 a head there was a column for sheep otherwise assessed but it was not very heavily patronized by the county assessors the commission advances the suggestion of a head for stock sheep and not the entire herd and adds old ewes and lambs on feed and also purebred ewes and rams are assessed according to the value and in proportion to the valuation on stock sheep the valuation for range goats this year averaged 2 a head in round numbers in making these recommendations concludes the commission we wish to emphasize the fact that they are to be used as guides to assist the assessor in securing uniformity of values it is not intended that each head of livestock shall be assessed tor precisely the amount recommended livestock of superior value should be assessed proportionately tor more than the amount which we have proposed in any one of these classes and livestock of inferior value should be proportionately tor less than the amount noted above |
