| Show AS TO CLIQUES the pueblo printer publisher had something to say the other day about the oft repeated assertion that almost every town or every organization that does anything is run by some particular chaque there is much good common sense in what the pueblo says we quote as follows one of the criticisms made of most every organization is that a clique runs it this assertion is usually made as a condemnation dem nation and with rancor As a matter of fact it is nearly always true most associations and clubs are run by a clique but what is the idea behind the clique it is composed of a group of hard workers men who see the ideals and the objects of the movements and who are compelled to put their shoulders to the wheel to help the organization along usually it is not from choice but from necessity it is because workers are few and because intelligence and dependable effort are scarce so that these men are forced to take the lead in the movement naturally when the election of officers comes they are the ones selected because it is workers who are wanted it is the men who go to the meetings who really work when they are put on committees who give unselfishly of their time and thought this is the nature and the class of personnel that make up the chaque usually anybody who will work will be welcomed into he chaque with enthusiasm |
