| Show ill have chamber of commerce LIVELY MEETING OF CITIZENS HELD AND DECISION IS MADE TO ORGANIZE AT ONCE i OFFICERS TO BE CHOSEN TOMORROW FRIDAY NIGHT CLUB STARTS OUT MOST FAVORABLE PROSPECTS moab is to have a chamber of commerce this was decided j at a well attended mass meeting held last friday evening in the goodmen woodmen hall A second meeting will be held tomorrow friday evening at the county court house at jo perfect the details of organization and name the officers who will guide the destinies of the chamber duang the present year friday nights meeting was held pursuant to a call signed by 53 catl zens of moab who publicly went on record as favorable to the organization of a chamber and who joined in calling a mass meeting to take definite action some fifty citizens gathered in response to the call H W balsley was chosen aa chairman of the meeting with L L taylor as temporary secretary an informal discussion was had relative to the advisability of establishing a chamber of commerce and the sentiment was solidly in favor of organizing it was at first the purpose of the gathering to proceed ai once with the election of officers but on second thought 4 was deemed advisable to give more serious thought to the selection of officers accordingly the chairman was authorized to appoint a committee of five members with himself as chairman this committee to formulate a draft of constitution and bylaws by laws and make recommendations for officers tor the ensuing year it was the opinion of the meeting that the committe could make a careful survey of the community and interview prospective officers to the end that men might be chosen who will be enthusiastic workers cess of the chamber and who will consent to give unsparingly of their time to the duties involved chairman balsley has appointed as fellow members of the committee the following D 8 L mons peterson and R J held this committee has held several sessions during the week and will make its recommendations at the organization meeting tomorrow friday night after providing tor the appointment of the organization committee the mass meeting friday evening adjourned to meet again one week hence to complete the work incident to getting the chamber of commerce firmly launched enthusiasm and good feeling were very much in evidence at the meeting which augurs well tor the success of the chamber it Is expected that tomorrow nights organization meeting will be attended by at least fifty citizens of the town in addition to perfecting the organization several matters of importance to moab and vicinity will be brought lp it Is highly important that this first of the chamber be well attended in order that the new officers may feel that have the solid support of the town back of them |
