Show READY TO GO TO CHARLES REDD HOPES RIGID investigation WILL BE MADE OF ACTS OF RAC 1 ING commission f charles redd of la sal representative from san juan county to tha state legislature was in moab dpn day evening on hid return to the state capital from a hurried over sunday visit at la sal mr redd who has been very much in the public eye during the jp resent session ot the legislature on account of his anti racing bill which was passed last week stated that the present session is accomplishing very little in the way of needed legislation politics he says is playing too prominent a role in the deliberations of both houses and be expressed doubt that much feord would result from the remaining two weeks sessions mr redd stated that he stands ready to back up the charges he made on the floor of tha house regarding the state racing commission 1 I am anxious toi have the special tee which was appointed last week at tha request of governor bern thoroughly investigate the acts of the race commission if a rigid probe is conducted I 1 am aure that sufficient facts will be uncovered to justify the statements I 1 made in attacking the racing cona mission what I 1 fear will happen la that politics will be played too strongly and that both sides to the dispute will spend their time sparring for advantage instead of getting at the bottom of the situation and bringing out the plain facts I 1 am ready and anxious to contribute in any way that I 1 can to thoroughly examining into the acts of the race commission during the past two years representative redo ass introduced a bill asking for an appropriation of 15 for building a road from elk ridge to the natural bridges he stated that a majority of the legislators isla tors of both bouses have expressed themselves as favorable to the appropriation and it the matter can be brought tip before the last minute rush he feels confident that the expropriation will be granted there aye a number of worthy requests for needed appropriations especially for the university of utai mr redd stated and it may be necessary to deny a number of appropriations in the interest of economy however the san juana representative stated that he would put every effort in behalf of the natural bridge read measure he has enlisted and obtained the hearty support of the salt lake chamber of commerce in his demand for the appropriation due to the amount cf time lost in considering the racing bill and other measures but little legislation has been acted on to date mr redd declared there ere now a vast number of awaiting action and it is likely that a wholesale slaughter ot bills will soon commence in order that the session may adjourn at the conclusion of the statutory sixty day period I 1 mr redd spoke of the standing and prestige thit have bee won by state senator knox patterson of moab and representative W D hammond of grand county in their respective houses senator patterson he says co the wholesome respect and confidence of his colleagues and is considered one OT th most influential members of the upper house representative ham is very active and stands highly with the members of the lower house he is on a number of important committees and is considered one of the ablest te emberg of ohp legislature grand mr redd said is exceptionally well represented in the law making bodies of th state mr redd left moab earla tuesday morning reaching salt lake city at noon |
