E scribed is to be worn in the afternoon it is essential that a coat accompany it I had this in mind when I was creating it so I decided th that t a long blue coat of blue would make an un admirable wrap This is quite plain although it has a lovely lovely love love- ly lining of pale lavender satin In the modes for evening the foundation foundation foundation tion instead of being a straightly cut slip is as a rule effectively although simply draped For the gray tulle frock I chose a foundation of black satin which shows a simple draping T Tie e tulle which veils this achieves a rather bouffant effect while the straight folds are interestingly elaborated with of the tulle These for form rather decorative panels About the lower edge of the tulle is avery a avery avery very narrow bind of black satin A similar similar simi simi- similar lar bind appears about the neckline which is cut rather high The topmost limits of the black satin foundation are distinguished distinguished exquisite exquisite ex ex- exquisite ex- ex silver flowers For tree great day however I have created a more ornate dress of white chiffon chiffon chiffon fon over draped white satin The foundation foundation foundation tion shows a pretty pointed bodice of the satin elaborated with several rows of Val lace The simply cut corsage is is' is made with a rounded neck while the very abbreviated ab bre sleeves are outlined with ermine The belt is of silver and is is finished 1 with long ends These originate just dust below a formal bouquet of roses and forget- forget me The skirt shows fascinating folds of white chiffon which are are effectively effective effective- ly cut sut ut and festooned above the satin underskirt As this is quite a formal little dress I would suggest that a garland of roses and nots me be placed in the hair as shown in in the illustration Equally handsome yet perhaps better suited to themore the themore more dignified debutante is the black lace gown This reveals another of my attractive attractive at at- interpretations of the draped satin slip The upper part is curved in shaped heart-shaped style and outlined with black blackw w Val lace Folds of the satin are drawn diagonally across each other on the skirt so that a small V-shaped V opening is apparent The black lace falls in panel style from the neck where it is edged with black Val lace This style of edging is also used on the flaring ruffles of black tulle that prove such a smart finish for the dress I chose black satin for the girdle as it modifies the rather airy fairy appearance of of the gown Silver Leaves and Slippers To achieve the most artistic effect I would suggest that flesh stockings be worn with this creation The dainty feet should be encased in m silver brocade slippers slippers slip slip- pers while silver leaves should be placed in the hair I With these lovely dresses in readiness for the festivities of Thanksgiving the fair debutante will spend many a happy hour as she finds her rightful place in society As cold weather is now in the ascendant ascendant ascendant ascend ascend- ant it is interesting to observe the types of daytime clothes that are favored by the woman who dresses with discrimination When she chooses a suit of homespun or tweed it is usually originated along rather 2 Venture Service ervice c 1120 1920 lr 1020 r rc S r r 1 Softest Gray Tulle Over Black Satin and a Garland of Silver to Trail Across the Girdle of Black mannish modes The coat may be be loose in the back and slightly eased into the waist This is particularly liked if she engages in outdoor sports for she can swing her arms without let or hindrance when she plays golf And should the weather necessitate it she can easily slip on a sweater under such a coat Long revers are also liked and some of the sleeves show most interesting cuffs Here and there a dash of brilliant color is revealed in the handsome waistcoats that accompany such suits There are many very lovely colors in th the but as a rule the hazy S r 1 fP tones are preferred Tan browns and misty shades of blue find their enlivening touches in bright accessories Knitted suits are also very much liked for sport wear as they are now developed on exceedingly smart lines While some of these are shown in solid colors others reveal bands of contrasting color that are S extremely attractive Another novelty is the sweater blouse which is far removed in style from the rather nondescript wrap that originally bore its name Such creations are evolved from silks of every hue Very often metal threads add to their richness These are l sometimes disposed so that a novel border is interwoven around the hem Or they may elaborate the decorative floral pattern pattern pattern pat
