W Shrader a private In n TC T troop Second squadron has written an entertaining l letter describing the trip tripot of ot tho the troop and of the treatment accorded ac- ac accorded accorded ac ac- corded the troopers along the route and of ot th life in camp Ills letter in part Vart follows I We Ve sure had a fine tine trip Wo We were in San Bernardino for several hours The Red Cross gave us a big feed and an automobile ride around the town for two hours bours Then we went out to th the orange groves where we picked all the oranges we could eat and carry away We Ve then went to Tucson where th the lied Hed Cross gave us another big feed and an auto ride around that town We Ve sure had some trip Here in Nogales it Is hot hot in inthe inthe inthe the shade shade but but the nights are ate cold coM We have a first class camp wood floors cots gas lamps lamps oh oh were we're regular soldiers There are about or United States boys here now and right across the main street there are about the same number of ot Mexicans We Ve rare re Lre not allowed within fifty yards of th the lineOn lineOn line Une On the American side there Is s not nota a a. saloon or a gambling house but on the Mexican side that Is all there Is Tomorrow July 19 we are going out on patrol duty on the border bonder to keep an eye on those dirty greasers greasers We Yo have had good food tood so far far far- eggs potatoes cakes corn syrup oranges cake cale sandwiches Iced tea etc Last night it rained pitchforks and hammer handles but It Is fine today Not so hot as It has been Shrader says that no case of ot sickness has developed save that of ot Private Peterson who was taken from the train en route The hospital beds are empty |
