I CRANK CASE IS MADE BEITER IN NEW NEV CARS CARSAn An Illustration of tho the perfection which ha has been reached in tho the de design design design de- de sign of at the better class of at automobile automobile automo automo- bile motors is to be found in the tho caro care with which the tho forces at work are controlled For instance every time an ex explosion explosion ex- ex takes place reaction against the cylinder heads tends to lift the cylinder off its base producing quite a strain on the tho cylinder bolts At Atthe Atthe Atthe the same time the downward force of the explosion strikes against tho the main bearing tending to pull it loose from its retaining bolts With the thc ordinary construction n these forces tend to pull pun the tho aluminum of the crank case apart This tendency has been cleverly corrected on somo some atthe of at the new now new cars b by making the bolt which holds the cylinder in place extend extend ex ex- ex- ex tend tenet down through the crank case caso and serve to hold the bearing In place at the lower tower end By this method of ot construction both the forces mentioned above are taken by these theo hard steel bolts Instead of at by bythe bythe bytho the tho aluminum crank case the latter acting mere merely as aa a spacer without being subjected t to dangerous strains
