George Whitehead appeared before the board of pardon here yesterday to tell that body that he had given false testimony at the trial of hi brother: Lee Whitehead, now serving a life term In the penitentiary at Canon City for the murder of a man named Lindsey at Caddo, Bent county. Both George and Ie whitehead war arrested for tha Lindsey murder, and. according ac-cording to (he atory George now telle, he stated to the authorities that the morning after the murder Lee came home with blood on his clothes snd that George Whitehead's wife had waahed out the steins. On the stand both he snd his wife so testified. The woman died two months ago and on her deathbed declared de-clared that ahe knew at the time that the blood on her brother-ln-law'a clothea came from a ateer that he hed killed a week before. Before the pardon board Tueeday George declared he. too, knew thla to be true, but that his testimony had been wrung from him by threats of pollc officers, who. he said, piled him with liquor and told him that be waa in danger of being lynched.
