The destruction of tens of thousands of white pine trees i 'threatened in this section by a plague of white lice. The lice first appeared on the trees this season at Mount Bigby reser- voir, the water supply of Mid- dletown. In many instances the lice cover the trees so thickly that it looks as though tbe trunk and larger limbs had been painted with a white powder. The trouble is so serious that the care of the trees has been taken in hand by the etat au- thorities, mainly to . prevent spread of the pest. tl I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I Mill |
