Show DECISION POLITICAL, -SAYS BALLINGER . SEATTLE, Wash., June 26. Former Secretary of the Interior Richard A. Bellinger gave the following signed -stateraenttoday to - the Associated Press: "Many persons seem to be laboring under the erroneous impression thai the recent decision of the commissioner of the general land office in canceling the Cunningham claims is a reversal of my official relations to these claims. Mince 1907, when I was commissioner of the general land office, these claims have been standing on my order of re-UTestigation. re-UTestigation. As secretary of the interior in-terior I took no action respecting these claims, as they were under the eontrol of Commissioner Dennett. As to the ' present decision, 1 am of the firm belief be-lief that there ia no evidence that a court of justice would hold sufficient to warrant the denial of the patents. In other words, the decision of the commissioner is political and not judicial." ju-dicial." . |
