Kdwuardo Hay, member of a prominent family In Mexico City and mo tnsurrecto leader who was captured st Casaa Orande on March I, escaped from the hospital here and bas rejoined tbe revolutionary party. Hay was one of the most active leaders lead-ers tn the early atagee of the revolutionary revolution-ary movement. Madero made him a lieutenant lieu-tenant colonel. In the battle at Casaa Orandes he was wounded Ave times and left for dead. Later, on being revived, he waa taken prisoner. On the march to Chihuahua he was given charge of the fourteen American prisoners. His prominence promi-nence created great Interest in Chihuahua and Instead of being placed In the penitentiary peni-tentiary be waa allowed to remain at tne hospital. In an Interview shortly before his escape es-cape he said It was his Intention If possible pos-sible to rejoin Madero. By gaining the confidence of the Internes st the hospital Hay waa allowed liberty. Hie escape was effected by his pretending to walk in the garden for recreation. At an opportune moment be bAyiiy dashed out Into the mountains. |
