Show ELY COH. HOISTING HIGHEST GRADE ORE IN ENTIRE DISTRICT No mining proposition In the entire Ely district Is attracting more attention at this time than the Ely Consolidated. Engineers who have recently Inspected the ground claim that the property has the making of the greatest copper mine In the camp, and posalbly one of the richest in the west. The Expositor says that the Zack shaft looks like a mine, and the ore which Is being hoisted out of that working from the 500-foot level la of the hi heat grade which has been opened up anywhere In the district. Never haa there been ao much copper exhibited In and around Ruth in the hla-tory hla-tory of that town. The Zack dump bristles bris-tles with the stuff, from porphyry ore to the pure quill. Homlte. cuprite, malachite mala-chite and asurlte are In abundance; the grav copper of the high grade mines, the copper glance which Is a I moat matte. The stores of Ruth contain specimens of the great looking stuff; beautiful jewelry jew-elry specimens; every other man has a piece of ore In his pocket, and there is a great chunk of carbonate ore In front of the store of the Nevada Meat com-1 panv's "market. It fives Rath the pee ranee of a great copper center In Itself. In the Zack shaft, at the see-foot level, there is ore at every turn and angle. The mine workers nave gone through eighty feet of high grade wblch will averaaje . per cent copper, and the width of this cannot be determined. And this is only a part of what thev have In the 00. In the No. 1 west shaft they went out through sulphide ore. averag-1 averag-1 ng per cent corner, for a distance of 100 feet where they came up aaralnat a heavy flow of water. Going back In this working to within twenty feet of the shaft, a drift to the north was started which carried them past the shaft, being now thirty feet to the north of the shaft They are stilt drifting In this working, the ore being t per cent. in tne soum ami iney are one v feet, and the ore averages S per cent copper cop-per and II. SO in etlvee and gold. They broke Into from twenty to twenty-five feet of oxide ore. which goea 4ft per cent copper, and In turning to the weet they followed ore of the name value for twenty-seven feet. It Is only nstural to assume as-sume thst ths ground between Is entirely entire-ly of ore. The twenty-seven feet is between be-tween two walls of limestone. Drifting to the weet waa continued, and the working waa In the limes tons for a die-tanee die-tanee of eighteen feet. It was at this point that they broke through the llmeetone and sot Into the high grade 4ft per cent) ore which lasted for eighty feet. Here another wall of limestone waa encountered, and turning again to the south the llmeetone waa eut out In ten feet, the ore breaking to the west, out In the direction of the Tiptop claim of Ely Central. Drifting to the south wsa continued, and this work Is now going on. the quality of tho are Improving Im-proving aa distance is made. It Is tha Intention of the management to sink to the 400-foot level, and It does not seem possible that anything else but the'same conditions will be found aa exist on the loo-foot level. This will give a depth of 10 feet of ore. the width of the body yet to be determined. The Ely Consolidated. hears the earmarka of being one of the greatest mines in the district: or as Superintendent Qulnn declare. 00a of tha greateel In tha entire weet. |
