Declaring that every man who has held the office of police commissioner here has been a failure, a committee of Boston women hsve petitioned Governor Yon to an-polnt an-polnt a "female comiiiisfllMner- The committee, headed by Mrs. Charlotte 8mith, president of the Women 's Homestead Home-stead association, elaims to represent 50,000 women. If the appointment of a woman police commission in impossible, the committee commit-tee wants women police inspectors, aad if this, too, is impossible, they want the present police force increased, reformed re-formed and regulated. Should this also be impossible, tha women declsre thst the chief executive of tbe stats should at one take sttfps to call out the militia to "suppress wickedness in Boston " |
