' Patrolman George Phillips made two important captures early this morning as he was patrolling his best oa State street. The' first waa 'made on 8tate and Second South street, about 1:30 o'clock, aad the second was a block lower down on the street, about an hour , . later. . When the offieer started on his beat at 11 o'clock he noticed something standing on the corner of State and 8econd South streets. Hs took little, notice of it st the time snd con tinned down the street. At the corner of State and Third South he noticed something similar to what he had seen at the up-' up-' - per eorner. . "Am I seeing double f" asked the officer ef himself, "or are there two of - them!" . He eontinned on his beat to Fourth South and then-, returned. The object .. on Third South was still there. He . made no move to capture it, but continued con-tinued his way north to Second South. There was the other one. The eyes of . the offieer had not deceived him. With an " I will keep an eye en both of them,". . the - officer continued on his beat. At 1:30 bis anxiety became too mueh for the officer. With a careful band, such as only a father knows, he took charge of the "thing" os State aad " Seeosd South street snd forced it to the ' station. An hour later he decided to take charge of the "thing" at the corner cor-ner of 8tata and Third South. With . gentle cars he pushed it to the station. ; - "Credit me with another one," said he -to the desk sergeant. Officer Phillips was credited with twe - baby buggies that had bees left on the street. The owners may recover them - by applying to the pohes station snd proving ownership.
