Show EDISON CATCHES I A GREAT SHARK JACKSONVILLE. Fla., April 17. Thomas A. Edison, aided by his wlf4. has added another to his long list of achievements. achieve-ments. This time It Is a shark six feet long which nearly outdid him after an hour's fltrht. but finally was overcome. Mr. and Mrs. Edison were In a rowboat fishing for tarpon In the river near the Inventor's Florida laboratory, but I their success had been negative, ant1, thel electrician elec-trician was dozing when his wife roused him by a shriek of alarm. Some fish had been caught on the hook attached to her ! line, and had sped away so rapidly that ; the tackle had almost been torn out of her hands. I Edison sprang to her aid and together they played the fish, but the rapidity with which it Hped away soon exhausted the supply line, and the two were forced to use their utmost strength to retain not only their prize hut their tackle. Presently Pres-ently the boat began to move under the Impulse of the power transmitted over the ccrd and shortly thereafter the twolwere being towed rapidly down the river. Spectators on shore said the two Struggled Strug-gled .lesperately to stop the fish, and worried wor-ried for their safety, Edison being (more than SO years old and having Just recovered recov-ered from an Illness. Preparations were made to go to their aid. For an I hour they watched the struggle and several , times faw the Inventor recline in the bottom bot-tom of the boat, evidently to rest. At rther times the boat was in great danger of being overturned. At length the fish surrendered, the two dragged it near the boat, and them Edison Edi-son commenced to row toward shore, while his wife, almost exhausted, clung to her prize, still struggling, but I conquered. con-quered. Wnen the boat reached shallow water Mrs. Edison's brother, whd had been among those watching the fightl from shore, waded out with a harpoon and killed the fish a shark six feet long.)
