Show NEGRO CHASED BY A MOB SUES ! ITS LEADERS I FRANKLIN, Pa., April 17 The unusual un-usual case of a negro suing the leaders of a posse that hunted down and arrested ar-rested him for an alleged attack upon a white girl is presented here. John Harding, colored, 23 years old, entered suits against T. J. Dempsey, detective, and E. J. Bleakley, police officer, claiming $5000 for false arrest. Lest September the two officers, after af-ter an all night chase with bloodhounds arrested him, accusing him of attacking attack-ing a white woman near the home of Gen. Charles Miller and locked him up for three hours. He was never arraigned ar-raigned on the charge. I Harding says that he is a law I abiding abid-ing citizen, and was not guilty of committing com-mitting the crime. |
