Show LIGHT BUSINESS ON WALL STREET NEW TORK, April 23. Very narrow price changes resulted from the opening dealings in stocks and the movement was irregular. Business was on a smalt cale. Illinois Central sold at an advance of 11. New York Central. American Smelting and National Lead declined large . fractions. frac-tions. Large operations in the well-known stocks gave the market an animated appearance, ap-pearance, but when the buying suddenly sudden-ly ceased the speculation came almost to a standstill. Union Pacific made the best showing, but its rise of a point and that of a large fraction in other favorites was surrendered surren-dered when the market began to recede. Prices continued to reeede before moderate mod-erate selling, the most pronounced pressure pres-sure centering on American Smelting, which lost 2, Northwestern 2. Northern Paclne 2 and St. Paul. Union Pacific, Atchison, Great Northern preferred. Reading, Read-ing, New York Central, Big Four, U. S. Steel, Amalgamated and ' Anaconda 1 ' or more. Bonds were irregular.
