Show MORE INDICTMENTS IN LAND CASES Federal Grand Jnry Re-tarns Re-tarns True Bills Against Seven Who Were Also Indicted In-dicted in December. Indictments were returned yesterday by the Federal grand Jury against the Utah Fuel company, H. O. Williams, general manager of the company; Robert Forvee-ter. Forvee-ter. geologist of the company; William D. Foster, secretary to Forrester; George A. Moore, civil engineer of the company; El-roy El-roy N. Clark of Denver, attorney for the corporation, and Alexander Cowle, chief clerk In the Denver offices. These Indictments charge In effect the same violations against ooal land laws as were outlined In Indictments returned at the last sitting of the grand jury December Decem-ber 8. When the defendants wore brought to trial at that time their attorneys attor-neys demurred against the Indictments, charging they were not specific Judge Marshall sustained the demurrers, and ths cases were continued until May 4, each defendant putting up $2600 bail. The bills were then resubmitted to the Jrand jury by United States District At-orney At-orney Booth who, with Special Assistant Assist-ant to the Attorney-General of the United Unit-ed States Maynard, secured freeh evidence, evi-dence, and outlined more specifically the chars es against the defendants. This resulted in the new Indictments returned yesterday afternoon. The original ori-ginal indictments were dismissed, bench warrants were issued for the arrest of those Indicted, and ball was fixed in the sum of SS000 each. It Is not likely that the trial will take place until fall, although al-though the Government Is trying bard to have a hearing during the June term of court. . |
