Show RURAL EDUCATORS ARE GIVEN POINTERS The Joint session of the department of normal schools and the departmeat of rural and agricultural education In the First Presbyterian church brought forth many good points relative to the conduct and management of these Institutions and the aid they can be to each other. President Presi-dent Hawkins of the Warrens burg. Mo., normal school led the discussion on whst ought to be done In rural education, agricultural agri-cultural education, social center work In rural communities. Professor Hawkins said that educators in rural sections should adapt themselves to the peculiar conditions existing In any one locality. He waa of the opinion that normal and agricultural schools should work In co-ordination and allow a pupil of either branch to study In ths other merely for the benefit derived from general gen-eral knowledge. "What the Normal School Can Do and Ought to Do With the Training of Teachers Teach-ers for Rural Communities" was tbe subject sub-ject of an Interesting paper by D. W. Hayes, president of the state normal school, Peru, Neb. Mr. Hayes Is of ths opinion that the normal Institutions should pay particular attention to those students who Intend teaching In rural districts that the pupils under them will not be required to go to the cities for the highest In education Discussion of this paper wae ted by Prof. W.
