Ievy, former resident manager mana-ger of the Halt Lake Orpheum and now construction manager for t he Ioew Interests In San Francisco and vicinity, la taken by local theatrical men to mean that the old Vantages K theatre on Kant Broadway la to be- come a Ioew house. I Considerable mystery has surround- I ed the final disposition of the old fan- I tagea house ever since Aleia-nder Van- t aires vacated It and opened the new I Vantag-es theatre on Main street. For the past several weeks deennttora and cleaners have been at work on the old i theatre and considerable expenae is j belna; incurred In putting; it in shape, for a reopening. I Rumors flrat credited the Wilkes j stock company Interests with having) secured control of the theatre from the i Auerbarh Realty company. Its own- j era. but hese were declared unfnund-1 ed by the Wilkes people. Then It became be-came known that the Jew interests were dickering for the house. It waa reported they had acquired control and then this report waa dented. The rumors persisted, however, and later it became known that the Loew people had renewed negotiations fo rcontrol. That theae later nejcottatlons were successful and that the old theatre will soon be reopened under Loew control with either vaudeville or motion pictures pic-tures or both Is believed certain by theatrical sharps here. The coming of Mr. Levy is looked upon as a certain Indication of the truth of the Loew control reports. The former Orpheum manager said this morning that he would be In Salt Lake Tor several days, but he would not discuss the old Vantages or the reports connecting the Loew interests i with It. He came here direct from San Francisco. |
