Show HOUSE DEBATES ! REAL ESTATE MEA1E Final Vote on Jenkins Bill Deferred Until Monday; Motion to Kill Is Decisively De-cisively Defeated. TIKRE was but one branch of the legislature in session yesterday, that being the house, the senate having adjourned The snUre Mmaaf' ' fnlay' voted to debuting the Jenkins bill, from the senate, which defines real estete t brokers and real estate aalesmen; pro-, pro-, vldes for the regulation, supervision .and licensing of the same: creates a state real estate department under the j supervision and direction of the state) j securities commission, and provides for I the enforcement of the act and fixe 1 penalties. I BILL L.JFTED. The hill had been before the house all of Friday afternoon, and finally it waa laid upon the table, after 8. W. Morrison Jr. had moved to etrlke out the enacting clauae. Soon after the house convened yesterday, Repreeenta-tlve Repreeenta-tlve Iverson of Boxelder moved effect lively to take the bill from the table, and then he proceeded to deliver an address In support of the measure, advancing; ad-vancing; many arsrumenta why It ahnuld be enacted Into law. He was followed by 8. W. Morrison Morri-son Jr. of Bait Lake, who delivered an address In opopsition to the measure. A. W. Morrison of Tooele followed, and he. too. opposed the bill. Representative Zander of t'lnta county, while denouncing some of the things that the two Morrisons did, de- r in red I hat he-was in favor of thai bill. VOTE DEFERRED. Owing to the absence of Representative Representa-tive Douglas of Weber countywho waa opopsed to the bill and who desired to address the house in opposition to the measure. Representative Ivers asked that final axtlon be deferred on the measure until Monday, when Mr. Douglas would be present. After almost al-most two hours' talk upon the bill. Representative Whltmore of Carbon county moved the prevloua question, and the motion of Mr. Morrison to strike out the enacting clauae waa loet. A rollrall was demanded. The vote waa: 10 ayes, 27 nays, 10 absent and not voting. The question then being on the pesa-age pesa-age of the bill, a motion waa made to postpone action until Monday afternoon at J o'clock, and pending action on this the house, on the motion of Representative Repre-sentative MrShane, adjourned until,! o'clock Monday. House bill No. 1o waa the only measure mea-sure Introduced during the session. It was fathered by Mr. Mc8hane and per- talned to Juvenile courts and Judge and their Jurisdiction, and providing for the detention of Juvenile delinquent In certain cases. It waa referred in the committee on judiciary. . PASSAGE URGED. I Favorable reporta were made by com-mil com-mil tees In returning house bills No. 42, 43, 44 and 46. by (juinney. pertaining per-taining to the Agricultural college and the University of Vtan. and house bill No. 59. by Qulnney, relating to settlement settle-ment by county treasurers. Similar recommendation was made in house bill No. 101, by the educstion committee, which is a substitute for Jiouse bill No, IS. relating to the filing of plana fer school buildings with the superintendent superintend-ent of public Instruction. 4 , From American legion post No. 1 1 petition waa received urging the legislature legis-lature to take action In the matter of the erection of a memorial to the soldiers, sol-diers, sailors and marines from Utah, even if a long time bond lasue haa to be floated to construct the memorial. Petitions signed by 1500 persons from various psrts of the state protesting against the passage of the Soutlrwlck anticlgarette bill were presented and referred to the committee on commerce, and industries. |
