Although far more powerful than any American warshlpg now In commission, com-mission, the Colorado class will be surpassed by the other six battleships authorised In It Is and known as the Massachusetts-Iowa class. The Colorado Colo-rado class mount eight six teen-Inch guns each, whereas the others will carry twelve such guns. . The Colorado's main battery will be mounted la four turrets, with 4 wo runs each, located along; the center ine, two turrets forward and two turrets tur-rets aft of the superstructure. The Massachusetts-Jo wa el ass will carry three guns to av turret and will develop de-velop two knots more aped than the t wenty-ono knots of the Colorado dsns. The Colorado ta 34 feet long and slightly mors than ninety -seven feet wide with a normal d I placement of 12.-C00 12.-C00 tons. The motive power will bo fiirninhed by four Westinghouse electric elec-tric drive turbines constructed to develop de-velop f.ftO horsepower. The crew will consist of officers, 114s enlisted en-listed men and 76 marines. The secondary battery of the Colorado Colo-rado will be fourteen five-inch rifles, four three-Inch antiaircraft guns and two torpedo tubes.
