V hereupon a great number, of pictures were made on the theme of religious faith, and the power of it. Some have been popular. But It 1 to be doubted If they were any more popular than they would have been with another theme, and equal merit. Many were not popular at all. The conclusion to be drawn from all this (teems to be that what the public wants merely Is meritorious pictures of any sort. |
