A boiling tarpot threatened to create a major blase In ths Grace flats,107 First avenue, Friday at R:3s a. m , but quick action by firemen fire-men reduced the threat to a 130 loss. When the pot boiled over It splashed hot tar on wooden porches In the rear of the flats, sending flames up the building's slds and enveloping the entire rear of the structure. Dense clouds of smoke attracted a large crowd. The fire was extinguished, ex-tinguished, however, after merely scorching the wooden porches.
