Show Rosemont Won't Perform Again Until Midsummer LOS ANGELES, March 1 (UP) Rosemont, winner of the $100,000 Santa Anita handicap Saturday, will be back next year to defend the title, Trainer Dick Handlen of the Foxcatcher Farms said today. Tha $90,700 winnings of last Saturday Sat-urday boosted Roeemont's earnings to $168,790 and put him well on the road toward joining that select circle of six steeds that have won more than $300,000. The trainer aald he had nearly given up hope for Rosemont several times. Jockey Johnny Pollard, who rode Seebiscult in the handicap, blamed himself for losing the race. "I didn't realise Rosemont was so close," ha said. Rosemont came from behind to win by a nose and Pollard believed If he had applied the whip to Seebiscult sooner, his mount could have won. But Roeemont's jockey, Harry Richards, said he "wasn't sure until ths last 100 yards that we could catch Seabiscuit Then I knew It" |
