The year in which butter "came down" to 80c a pound . . . when the Republlcana moved into Confress and the bureaus added more desks. The yesr in which we tried the nasi criminals . . . and imported the nasi war scientists to teach ua their black arts. The year In which the atom remained veiled in mystery . . , like next year's car models. Only John Lewie gave ua . something consistent to cling to , . . like Pike's peak, unchanging unchang-ing yesterday, today and tomorrow. tomor-row. Good old John . . . so round, so firm, so fully packed with dynamite.
