Bingham Is In state of "the wildest excitement todayv the celebration of the camp's advent as a town Is nffw In progress. Cannons are' booming, anvils are being be-ing fired, bands are playing and banners ban-ners are flylnjr in- honor of the event., - Men. women and children- are vleing with each other to give the town a "good send ofT.- Everyone Is orderly and peaceable and in the best of humor. Not an arrest has been made as a result re-sult of the celebration. Gus Larson, a Scandinavian ' miner, set off a huge anvil at the top of the hill at noon. The force of the explosion, was so great that he was thrown over the edge and down the slope, rolling on the snow for 100 feet before .he could Stop. Larson's friends thought he had been. killed and ran to his aid. He was unhurt. Many persons from the entire West Mountain mining district, of which Bingham is the center, have come to town to Join In the celebration. All of the exercises of the day. are free. At noon the Bingham Cornet band gave a promenade concert, continuing until 2 o'clock. . . This afternoon a children's dance will be given In Society hall. This eventng there will be grand inaugural balls at Opera and Society halls. . George E. Lee, as master of ceremonies cere-monies and marshal of the day, Is covering cov-ering himself with glory, as are his hard working aides. |
