Soon after Prothero gave the information informa-tion that caused Sbockley's arrest, ha signed an agreement to making over all but fcJOO of th reward to the widows. The Chief of Police and others who might have participated in the money also signed their shares away. Sheriff Emery questioned Prothero closely, and found that he had signed ' the . paper willingly and cheerfully. Prothero's father has written to the law firm of Stephens ft Smith, Inclosing a sealed letter to Prothero. In the letter to the attorneys he said that the young man's parents held the respect and esteem es-teem of the community: that they were In poverty.. and that there was now serious se-rious Sickness in the family. It was intimated that if he had any money due him. It could be used. to good advantage at home. Prothero declines te state whether or not he will now claim the reward. Judging Judg-ing from the manner in which he speaks, he may make a proposition for a new division, di-vision, so that he may get a large share of the money. , |
