While1 bound down Long Island Sound on one of her -regular passages from this city to New 1 London, Conn., the freight steamer Mohawk, Mo-hawk, of the Central Vermont railroad, .took fire off Horton's Point, L. I., and was burned to the water's edge early today. Her crew excepting the watch- man were rescued by a passing steam- j ship and taken to Fall River, Mass. The Mohawk will be a total loss.
