Show LABOR ORGANIZATIONS, AGAIN IN CONTROVERSY American Federation and Knights of Labor Prepare to -Tight Battle in Court. WASHINGTON, March 12. The controversy con-troversy between the American Federation Federa-tion of Labor and the Knights of Labor La-bor waa brought Into the' courts again yesterday when the Southern Expanded Metal company brought Injunction proceedings pro-ceedings against August F. Gets, Henry Hen-ry F. Gets and Robert Portner to prevent pre-vent the defendants' from further Interfering Inter-fering with the complainant and its workmen. The Getzes are building contractors and Portner ia the owner of an apartment apart-ment house on an addition of which the workmen are employed. It is charged that the work of the complainant was stopped March 3rd by tha contractors on the ground that though the work waa being performed by local union workmen the workmen were objectionable because they were not affiliated with the Federation of Labor. Tha complainant says that if the federation establishes its claim to prevent other local union labor from working on buildings where Knights of Labor members are employed, the company com-pany will be stopped from the further execution of many large contracts under un-der way, and will be barred from obtaining ob-taining or competing for further contracts, con-tracts, with consequences ruinous to the complainant and to the good and lawful workmen. Justice Hagner of the District Equity court declined to sign a temporary restraining order, owing ow-ing to a technicality in the form of the bill, but gave counsel permission to amend it. |
