Therefore Hud-klns Hud-klns will be released from' Jail the day before election and will be given, twenty-four hours in which to go to Ritchie county, vote and return to Jail. Hudkine came to town ten days ago to hear William J. Bryan speak. He was recognized by Deputy Marshal O'Bleness, who arrested him on a warrant war-rant charging him with selling liquor without a license. When Hudkins was tried he pleaded guilty, to the charge. Judge Jackson said: "I suppose you want to vote?" "I do," was the reply. "Well, sir, I think that every American citizen should have that privilege, and I do not think that any one should be deprived of his vote because he has sold a little whisky. I will sentence you to swerve thirty days in Jail, as the law requires, but I will direct di-rect he Jailer to release you without bond Monday, November 7, in order that you may go back to your home to vote, but I will require that you return to the Jail at Parkersburg before night on the 8th day of November." |
