Show STRIVING TO SAVEWOMAN Something May Be Done to Prevent Hanging of Mrs. Hanna Valentine. NEW YORK, June 13. Remarkable efforts are being made to prevent the hanging of Mrs. Anna Valentine at Hackensack, N. J., next Thursday for the murder of Rosina Salza. The Board of Pardons already has refused to Interfere In-terfere and before starting for Chicago Chi-cago Saturday to attend the Republican Republi-can national convention Gov. Murphy signed the death warrant. Only two women have been executed In the history of New Jersey and much opposition to the hanging has developed devel-oped on that account. Considerable sympathy has been aroused for the woman, owing to circumstances surrounding sur-rounding her crime. Efforts are now being made by her counsel to secure a reprieve from Acting Gov. Wakelee so that the case may again be placed before be-fore the Board of Pardons. |
