Show A NATURAL SANITARIUM. . ' r : What SdsntLflo Observer Has to . Say About California. Lieut. John P. Findley, while In charge of the United States Weather Bureau at Ban Francisco, contributed an article to a prominent magazine on the climatic conditions of California, in which ' the following . statement appeared: ap-peared: "Theoretically. California should furnish fur-nish the best and the most varied health ; resorts and sanitariums In the United States. Within her borders almost, every form of wasting disease should find the mean of temporary, if not permanent, per-manent, relief." This theoretical statement, from an unbiased, scientific standpoint. Is abundantly confirmed by- experience. The cool and braclnc; coast cHmate, devoid de-void of any trace of malaria, extends from the northern part of the State to the extreme south. There is the choice between this cool, humid atmosphere and the dry. warm atmosphere of the Inland valleys. Of altitude there Is a year greater difference. dif-ference. From Palm valley, 300 feet below ea level, to the upper Sierras, 7000 or 8000 above, any altitude can be selected, and comfortable homes be founded. The peculiarity of an almost rainless summer, during which the injurious germ of animal and vegetable decay are destroyed by thorough desiccation, is one of the striking features of Call-t Call-t forma climate. During the rainy season It is usually to cool to facilitate fermentation, and theresult Is, except along some of the rlverxvalleys. an absolutely pure at-mosphVre. at-mosphVre. Theocean winds entering tbroughVhe several coast openings, are tempered by the intermediate area passed oveV gnd often receive desirable healing P ropy-ties by taking up the resinous res-inous odors ovthe pines and redwoods on the Coast Ayige. The skillful hysiclan. acquainted with the climatic conditions, should find little difficulty in iectlnr a locality where climate and ehtfronrnent will do alb that these ftgencIesSraii ever do toward to-ward the restoration ofShealth. There Is enough of wildness to KeD the mind constantly engaged, and enoh CV. lllxatlon to satisfy the most e.cting. People whose systems kre Vm,.- with malaria, or are "run dowv by overwork, find immediate and in nVny cases permanent relief In this lnvigw rating climate.
