' They love their wives and children and treat them kindly and not one of them would cause suffering to a dumb brute, but such Js the deformity of their moral vision that they cannot see that EVERY PENNY THEY HEAP UP IS STAINED WITH THE BLOOD THAT OOZES FROM THE PORES OF WRETCHED HUMANITY. In the stone age men were not civilized. They fought and it was a case of the survival of the fittest, tut they fought ,for self preservation, not for gain. After.the stone age man ha'd enough for his needs and he did not go around breaking heads and hearts in order to get what he did not need. But, as we said, he was not civilized. But they began to get money and strained them. Their consciences are deformed. To them money is everything. They form trusts that increase the cost of living to thousands; they put iron into life preservers, they adulterate the milk that little babies drink, they work their employees furiously during the best years of their lives and when age begins to show itself in the slightest degree de-gree they turn them out as they would a dog; they employ children in sweatshops to make costly gowns that are worn by women of wealth; in short, |
