Show SLUGGED WITNESS George Tally, Convicted of Robbery, Creates a Scene In Courtroom. "Thank you" were the words which George Tully said to Judge Lewis Monday Mon-day when he was sentenced to seven years In the State prison for the crime Of robbery. Then like a flash he turned on John Chrtstensen, the complaining witness, and dealt him two quick blows on the face. Chrtstensen arose from his seat and attempted to run, but was struck twice more before Deputy Sheriff Cowan Cow-an could reach the prisoner. Throning htm to the floor the deputy, with the assistance of Sergt Hempel. placed the cuffs on his wrists. When the convicted robber rose to his feet he said to his victim. 'You know that I did not rob you," then turning to the court he said, "I meant no disrespect to you, Judge, but I've been Jobbed here. There Is no yellow in me and I will not squeal at the sentence you gave me. As he left the courtroom with the officers of-ficers he remarked "I'd willingly serve three years more for that half minute." The crime for which Tully was convicted con-victed took place at the O. & O. saloon on the night of May 31 of this year. Chrtstensen was knocked down and robbed at the rear of the saloon. The robbers securing about 29 In cash and a cheap watch which was later found In the possession of Tully. Tully will be taken to the State prison Tuesday. |
