Show CHANGE FOR GUARDSMEN Otah Officers May Enter Regular Army Under the Dlx Bill. A number of the officers of the National Na-tional Guard of Utah are seriously thinking of accepting the opportunity afforded them by the Dlx bill to secure commissions In the . regular army. Others will probably wish to be placed on the volunteer service list by the same means. The Dlx bill provides for a two years' course of Instruction at Fort Leavenworth, Leaven-worth, Kan. The compensation allowed by the Government Is U per day and room or house rent free. Brlg.-Gen. John Q. Cannon has been advised that by one provision of the bill the Governor has the privilege of appointing officers of the Guard to attend at-tend the military school at Fort Leavenworth Leav-enworth for two years. Lieutenants taking ta-king the course will be provided with one room, and Captains and higher officers, offi-cers, two. At the expiration of two years the officers offi-cers are placed on the volunteer list If they keep up with their class. When officers are needed in the regular army, they are appointed from the graduate list. Another order has also been issued to the effect that the President has been given authority to appoint 100 officers from the National Guard of the different differ-ent States, to the school, when recommendations recom-mendations are made by the Governors of the States.
