Show CLARK MONUMENT FORMALLY UNVEILED ST. LOUIS. Oct S- A monument was ! unveiled today in Bellefontalne cemetery to the memory of Gen. William Clark, who was one of the principals In the Lewis and Clark expedition Into the Northwest territory in 103. The monument monu-ment wa erected according to the provisions provis-ions in the will of Jefferson Kearny Clark, youngest son of the explorer. Invitations to the unveiling had been sent to President and Mrs. Roosevelt, Mayor and Mrs. McClellan of New York and others. Addresses were ' made by MaJ.-Gen. John C. Bates. V. 8. A.. David R. Francis, Gen. Pleasant Porter, chief of the Creek Indians, and Mayor Holla Wells of St. Louis. Representatives of five fenerations of the Clark family were present. The monument mon-ument was unveiled by John O'Fallon Clark, grandson of Oen. Clark, assisted by his son, William Glasgow Clark, who is the oldest great-grandson of the General, Gen-eral, and by Col. Henry Dosch. commissioner commis-sioner of the World's fair from Oregon. |
