Show JUDGE SAW THE HOSE Stockings Displayed in Court on Limbs of Fair " Litigants. COLUMBUS. Ga., Oct S. There was a pretty display of hosiery in Judge Ray's court In the case of Mrs. Emily . Richards against Mrsi Lizzie Armstrong. Arm-strong. The women, who are young and ' handsome, were at outs regarding the ownership of a dozen pairs of silk stock-; ingsi Mrs. Richards alleged her washer- woman stole the stockings and sold ' them to Mrs. Armstrong. This the latter lat-ter denied. "I can't decide." said the Judge, "un-. less I see the stockings," whereupon Mrs. Armstrong elevated her dress to a ' point Just above the knee, saying: "These are my stockings." "Why-they are my stockings." cried Mrs. Richards. "They match the pair I am wearing," and she elevated her dress to the knee, displaying stockings slml- N lar to those worn by Mrs. Armstrong. -r "It's a pretty display of limbs and bo- slery." said the Judge, "but I'll have to dismiss the case. I suppose there are many ladles in Columbus wearing similar simi-lar stockings." |
