WASHINGTON, April 24 The enterprising en-terprising saloonkeeper who recently bought the sideboard alleged to have been given to Mrs. Hayes while she was mistress of the White House by the Women's Christian Temperance union of Cincinnati believes his fortune has been made. He Intends taking, that now celebrated piece of furniture and other articles of lumber bought at the White House auction to St. Louis. There he will set it up so as to make the place look like the east room of the White House, with the sideboard at one end to serve r-s a bar. He will stock the place with liquors, expecting to do a great business In a barroom made to look like the celebrated chamber cham-ber in which Abagail Adams hung the family wash to dry. |
