Show BICYCLE ORDINANCE DOES NOT SATISFY City Employees Object to Council's Interpretation of the Law Restricting- Use of Driveways. Considerable dissatisfaction is manifested mani-fested by a number of the employees of the city and county building, over the new bicycle ordinance. Following Is the objectionable resolution: resolu-tion: Resolved. That this Council place such construction upon the bicycle ordinance as shall prevent bicyclists from riding upon walks used by pedestrians on the city and county building grounds and that they be restricted to the driveways." No mention Is made in this resolution concerning the driveway which encircles the building, which is used both as a road for carriages and a walk for pedestrians. According to-tbe policeman's views, who has the observing of this resolution to enforce, en-force, no person is to be permitted to ride around the building because the road is used for pedestrians, which the Council wished to protect from the danger of being be-ing injured by bicyclists. The new order of things means that all wheelmen must carry their mounts across the driveway or else take a chance of being be-ing arrested and lined. |
